Argentario Golf Club hosts the Italian Challenge Open 2024
The prestigious Italian Challenge Open takes place from 19 to 22 September at Argentario Golf Club. The tournament, included in the Italian Pro Tour and the Challenge Tour calendar, is an appetizer for the great Italian Open that will be held here in 2025.
The event, now in its 16th edition, will offer 350,000 euros up for grabs, of which 56,000 will go to the winner. 156 players will be competing, among which 16 of the top 20 golfers from the second European men’s golf circuit.
Among them, the Englishman John Parry (ranked second in the Challenge Tour), and the Swede Joakim Lagergren (third). There will also be well-known names such as Chris Wood, winner of three European Tour titles, and Álvaro Quirós, noted for his length off the tee (he was the longest driver on the European Tour in 2006, 2007 and 2008, averaging nearly 310 yards).
There will also be sixteen Italians in the field, who will be chasing the fourth Italian success in the history of the competition after those of Matteo Manassero (2023), Matteo Delpodio (2015) and Edoardo Molinari (2009). The spotlight will also be on Gregorio De Leo, Flavio Michetti, Pietro Bovari and Enrico Di Nitto.
The Pro-Am will precede the event on September 18. Twenty-four teams will compete, each composed of a professional and three amateurs.
Argentario Golf Club, the only one in Italy with the recognition of ‘PGA National Golf Course Italy’, awarded by the Professional Golfers’ Association in 2019, will test players with narrow and tree-lined fairways, small greens and various water obstacles that add to the technical difficulty of the layout, where the precision of the players will be fundamental.
Argentario Golf Club awaits both golf lovers and beginners who want to follow the competition: admission is free.
