Golf has lost a great President, Franco Chimenti.

Franco Chimenti was an exceptional president and a true golf enthusiast, as well as a dear friend. With heavy hearts, on behalf of the entire Argentario Golf Club, its members, and all the staff, we say goodbye to this remarkable man. His vision and passion were evident in everything he did, and we share in the grief of his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in Naples in 1939, Franco Chimenti was a professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and later dean at “La Sapienza” University in Rome. He became a key figure in Italian golf, leading the Italian Golf Federation for seven terms and playing a crucial role in bringing the Ryder Cup to Italy in 2023. Chimenti’s passion for golf and sports leadership, alongside a distinguished academic career, earned him the Collare d’Oro al Merito Sportivo in 2021.
